Oh, there are only so many euphemisms you can use for “media-whore.” Today, how about “the promiscuous attention-seekers” at Westboro Baptist Church, well, they’re at it again. And this time at home in Topeka, Kansas, where they’ve organized a petition drive to fight a city ordinance banning discrimination against homosexuals in city hiring. Phelps & co. have met more success at home than on their “God hates fags” tours, and have collected enough signatures to force the city to rescind the ordinance or else put it to a citywide vote. A councilwoman who helped sponsor the original ordinance said that many of those who signed the Westboro petition didn’t understand what they were signing, and later said they were tricked into adding their names. So far, 64 signees have asked that their names be removed from the petition.
