The bad news is that as a result, the press is mostly ignoring the transformation of Somalia into a Taliban state. The press paid attention when Islamic forces routed the warlords of Mogadishu, who’d been backed by the U.S., but since then there’s been little news — but much happening. Power and Interest News Report sifts the struggle between two Islamist factions — one moderate, one militant — and a weak coalition of warlord.
