I found, in fact, a plurality of religious expression (and even religious experience) in the movies themselves and in audience reactions afterwards. I don’t know that I met a single religious filmmaker or saw a film by someone who subscribes to any doctrine, but for those looking for it (perhaps only me), religion hung in the air and flashed on the screens, at twenty-four frames per second.”
