The Allahabad High Court finally ruled, after nearly 60 years of disputes, that the land be partitioned in thirds to Hindus, Muslims, and the Nirmohi Akhara sect.

The Allahabad High Court finally ruled, after nearly 60 years of disputes, that the land be partitioned in thirds to Hindus, Muslims, and the Nirmohi Akhara sect. (It also ruled that Lord Ram was indeed born on the site and that the original Babri mosque wasn’t really a mosque because it wasn’t built according to Islamic tenets, but hey, details.) The best part? Most of the original petitioners are dead, leaving a whole new generation of dissatisfied religious adherents to appeal the case yet again (since dividing and sharing the site apparently is not a satisfactory solution). Here’s hoping our grandchildren won’t still be arguing about the Cordoba House in 2070…
