Greenfield: Apparently speed dating wasn’t the only thing going on at this year’s Islamic Society of North America convention. In a follow-up to yesterday’s front-page story on matrimonial banquets at the convention, the NY Times decided to report the election of the Society’s new president, Ingrid Mattson. Mattson is not only the first woman president that the organization has seen, but also the first convert to fill the position. A big deal, right? So why then, when Muslim dating gets front-page privilege, does the female convert as president story get page one of the Metro section?
