Superbowl Sunday, Justice Sunday — when o when will the evolutionist Christians have a Sunday of their own? Next week, as it turns out. February 12, which also marks the 197th birthday of Charles Darwin, more than 400 churches will participate in “Evolution Sunday” and protest the “false dichotomy” of the evolution/religion debate by addressing the compatability of science and religion in their sermons and through discussion groups. The event is organized by Michael Zimmerman, Dean of the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, who also organized the 10,000-signature petition, the “Clergy Letter Project,” which grew out of a local effort to combat the anti-evolution policies of a Wisconsin school board, and which argues for the separation of science and religion as “two very different, but complementary, forms of truth.”
