Long considered the preeminent pulpit for hawkish pro-Israel views, not to mention thoughtful writing on the rest of Judaism courtesy of literary editor Leon Wieseltier, the magazine now stands accused by the Jewish Forward of shilling for fundamentalist Islam. How so? According to Eric Marx, the magazine agreed to let a critic of Saudi Arabian Wahhabism be disinvited from a forum on Saudi Arabia it’s co-sponsoring — with Saudi Arabia. Wait, there’s more! the critic is none other than formerForward Washington bureau chief Stephen Schwartz.
