Religion — or more likely, the maintenance of social ties that regular church attendance affords — has been found to slow cognitive declines in Alzheimer’s patients according to a study released yesterday. Another study released yesterday also promoted the health benefits that go with believing, citing the decreased likelihood of depression in devout African Americans whose faith in God may help them overcome the alienation they may feel due to racial discrimination.
