Instead, “God’s Entourage” provides a window on an often overlooked facet of religion in Hollywood: the faith of the entertainment industry’s African American elite, who are bringing God into the limelight with an audio Bible. Amber Nasrulla explores casting director Robi Reed’s project, which has signed on stars such as Denzel Washington and Angela Bassett. She finds that the actors involved are very open about their Christianity, even though “celebrities are the gods of our day, and if they bow their heads in prayer to another god, it can be taken as a sign of weakness.
