The ultra-conservative (but not actually secretive) Catholic group, Opus Dei is calling for the film adaptation of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, which will open the Cannes film festival this May, to be given an adult rating to prevent children from absorbing the film’s “‘insidious’ lies about Catholicism,” arguing that children don’t have the critical faculties to distinguish fiction from truth, and that the film could indoctrinate them with anti-Catholic feelings.
