The fall line-up of events at our host institution, NYU’s Center for Religion and Media. General interest journalists may be most interested in a panel discussion on “Gods Elect? Religion, Media and Elections in the Americas.” We’re looking forward to Judith Butler on Abu Ghraib and “Torture, Photography, and the Limits of the Secular.” There are several good movies on the agenda, but two we’re especially interested in are “Tailenders,” a new documentary on how missionaries use low-tech audio to evangelize indigenous communities, and a new movie on Sacco and Vanzetti.
