Intelligent Design gets set for another trial, with a group of California parents suing a rural high school which introduced the evolution alternative as a philosophy elective. The new case, if it holds up, could force a more nuanced discussion of the merits of I.D., as previous lawsuits have protested the teaching of Intelligent Design in science classes, as opposed to philosophy, comparative religion, or history classes. According to Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which helped the parents’ group file the lawsuit, the California course relies almost entirely on religious videos for its teaching curriculum.
